One of the most satisfying pleasure reads I've had in a very long time, Sanguine Kiss is a truly delectable dark romance, sort of a Godiva truffle for the brain.Seth is a vampire down to the marrow of his cold, dead bones - arrogant, snarky, powerful, bloodthirsty, brutal, and very, very smart. If you like'em mean and bossy with a genuine capacity to care, he's your kind of vamp - he's certainly mine. And oh yeah, he's gorgeous with a killer Southern accent. But as much as I lust him as a fantasy object, as a literary creation, I may love his human beloved, Gillian, even more. The heroines of gothic romance tend to be deep wells of sadness, and this one is, too. But she isn't emo; her pain is real, and Christian describes it with a clear-eyed empathy and realism that makes the reader's heart hurt for this woman and root for her all the way to the vengeful and deeply cathartic end. I lose patience with imaginary sad girls very easily; I never once lost it with Gilly.
Extra points for the unique and nicely-rendered setting. Anybody who's ever walked down Market Street in Charleston, SC, after dark will recognize it with a thrilling little shiver.
Ms. Christian knows her beasties, and she's kind enough to share. I'll definitely be back looking for more.

I found Sanguine Kiss to be a satisfying light read! The premise is novel, and its ending was exactly what I'd have chosen myself. If you want to indulge yourself in some erotic "Vampire Romance" to celebrate Halloween, I highly recommend this novella. I found myself reading it in one sitting. Once I started, I read through to the end, even though I hadn't planned to do that...
Fantastically well written novella taking a little slice out of our true emotions... love, fear, lust, hatred, belittlement... vindication... Can't wait to see what's next from Alexandra Christian!!
If I have any complaints about this tale, it's that the last page arrived too soon. Don't misunderstand me, it isn't rushed or incomplete. It simply left me hungry for more. A well-written and very sexy tale. Well done, Lexxx. I'd love to read more tales with Seth and Gillian.
Just finished this one, and I have have to say, it's brilliant! Not only are you interested in the sexy scenes which Alexandra Christian does so well, but you get interested in the characters and stories, as well, because, let's be honest, who hasn't been cast off like we're nothing, such as Gillian has? Who hasn't dreamed of someone to come along and take our thoughts away from that, take our depression away? Ms. Christian portrays this sentiment so very well. Sexy and cool, this is one you're not gonna want to miss!
